General Rules:
Texas Hold'em is a "community card" game, meaning that some cards are dealt face-up in the middle of the table and shared by all the players. Each player has two down cards that are theirs alone, and combines them with the five community cards to make the best possible five-card hand.
Hold'em games get the betting started with one or two "blind bets" (see info on "blind bets" below) to the left of the dealer. These are forced bets, which must be made before seeing one's cards. Play proceeds clockwise from the blinds, with each player free to fold, call the blind bet, or raise. The blinds are "live", meaning that they may raise themselves when the action gets back around to them.
Play begins by dealing two cards face down to each player; these are the "hole cards". This is followed by a round of betting starting with the player next to the Big Blind. The Dealer then buries 1 card.
Now three cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table; this is called the "flop". A round of betting ensues, with action starting on the first blind, immediately to the dealers left. The Dealer then buries 1 card.
Another card is dealt face up (the "turn" or “4th street”), followed by another round of betting, again beginning to the dealer's left. The Dealer then buries 1 card.
Then the final card (the "river" / “5th street”) is dealt followed by a final round of betting.
The game is played for high only, and each player makes the best five-card combination to compete for the pot. Players usually use both their hole cards to make their best hand, but this is not required. A player may even choose to "play the board" and use no hole cards at all. Identical five-card hands split the pot; the sixth and seventh cards are not used to break ties.<<<<
Seating:
Based on a field of 100 players we will start out of with 10 tables of 10. This will be a Continuous Play Tournament. As players are eliminated and tables become uneven we will move players to accommodate play. More on this below in the “MOVING PLAYERS” section.
GAME PLAY:
Blind Bets:
There will be 2 blind bets on every hand dealt.
Prior to any cards being dealt, the person to the left of the dealer puts in the small blind (which is = to ½ the minimum bet) and the person second to the left puts in the big blind (= to the minimum bet for that time frame). 2 cards are then dealt to everyone.
Now it is up to position 3 to the left of the dealer to put in the minimum bet (= to the big blind) and call, put in the minimum and raise, or fold. And so on until it reaches the person with the small blind. That person only has to put in enough to equal the minimum bet (big blind) + any raises to call, they can then raise themselves, or fold.
Then on to the person that placed the big blind, they can check, call any raise, raise themselves, or fold.
If the person with the Big Blind raises the pot, it will continue around the table with each player having the choice to call the raise, fold or re-raise. This will continue until everyone calls or folds. Then the dealer will burn 1 card and proceed with the Flop.
Once the flop comes out, betting starts to the left of the dealer and proceeds like a normal poker game. After the blinds are matched, bets can be any amount from the minimum bet upto all the chips you have in front of you.
The blind bets will be raised every 20 min (see Blind Schedule attached).
Betting Limits:
The minimum bet at the start of each round is equal to the big blind. The maximum eligible bet at all times is a player's table stake (the amount of money a player currently has on the table). During the course of a round of betting, a bet size cannot decline. (A bet or raise must equal or exceed the preceding bet or raise.) If someone raises 50, then the next player's minimum raise would be 50 after they match the raise in front of them (I see your 50 and raise you 50 or 60 or 75 more etc). They can’t just make the bet 60 all day…Call the 50 bet and raise it 10 (unless it is an all-in situation and the player going all-in doesn’t have enough to make a min. raise).
Any player can go all in (wager all their chips) at any point in a hand when it is their turn to bet or call. A player is never forced to call more than the amount of chips they have on the table at any moment. If one player runs out of chips during the course of a hand, and more than one opponent remains with more chips than that player, then a side pot is created. An all-in player can win from another player only as much as they are in for.
Check then Raise:
This is allowed.
The Deal:
This will be a rotating deal starting with Position 1 at each table. It will then rotate to the dealers left after each hand.
There will be 2 decks of cards at each table. The person that dealt the previous hand will shuffle the deck that is not in use as the current hand is being dealt so it is ready to go for the next hand. This will help keep the game moving.
Moving Players:
When Tables become uneven we will move players from larger tables to accommodate play. As soon as there is a difference of 2 players between the largest table and the smallest table we will move 1 player from the largest table over. The tables will be numbered and we will start moving players from the largest tables numbered closest to 1 and rotate accordingly. We will continue this process thru out the tournament.
When we move a player from a table we will always move the player that is sitting in the same position that was vacated at the time we have to make the move. That player will be moved to the empty seat at their new table and will immediately assume any obligation for that seat (i.e. blinds, deal etc). The moved player will NOT sit out any hands.
We will continue this rotation and will break down whole tables as available. When we break a table new seats will be assigned randomly to those people at the broken table.
“Dead” Button:
It is possible that a player may be eliminated from a table and not be replaced (because tables are even). If the Big Blind gets busted in a hand and is not replaced then the button (deal) will move to the player that posted the small blind (as normal) and the player to the left of the former Big Blind (player that busted) will assume the Big Blind. There will be NO SMALL BLIND for that hand. On the Following deal the button moves to the empty seat (but the player that just dealt deals again). The two players to the left of the button will post Normal Blinds (small and big respectively).
If the small blind is eliminated in a hand and not replaced by player from another table, the button does not move. The player that just dealt deals again. The player that was the Big blind will post the Small Blind and the player to their left will post the Big Blind. Then the deal will move to the Small Blind on the next hand.
Payouts:
The # of Players will determine the # and Amount of payouts which will be split up on a % basis of the Total Pot – (60% of the Pot will be paid out)
